Both of you are right. I was particuliarly uninspired yesterday.

Yes M. artillery was disappointing at long distance.

Goodness, really? The future bodes badly for me then. I felt the battle was almost lost when my centre collapsed, thank god for some large cavalry regiments is all I can say.

I had problems at every distance. I couldn't hit anything with the 8lb guns in particular...I wonder if they have a problem? I'll go and check the game files and see if there is a lurking error in there.

I also thought something was "wrong" with the artillery here, but it looked to me like the arty fire was hitting either the dead bodies OR the cannons that were left uncrewed ?....

There was a lot of cannon fire hitting the ground but I think that was an elevation problem, GP's guns needed to be a little further forward at one point for sure, and M's guns were firing up hill at some stages.

Funny, so we were both in the same evaluation. As I saw I was lost, I launched the bayonet assault only to perfect this technic and see how it works again Spanish.
I noted only once I missed to keep the 'Alt' pressed generating a block firing. Sorry. I think now that will nomore arrive.

So what did you think?

Charging into melee is always expensive in lives, both the enemies and your own, but those grenadiers you threw at me were nearly unbreakable. It wasn't until the Spanish cavalry brigade hit home that I breathed a sigh of relief.

I just had a thought as I read you comment....perhaps the snow is partly obscuring the real lay of the land? I find get get a bit 'snow blind' and really struggle to see things properly with so much white washing everything out. So, perhaps for me at least the terrain was slightly rolling but I just couldn't see it? That would make some sense...also pretty realistic too.

Regards, M.

Since some games, I use Grenadiers charging a la bayonet with improving results.
I am quite sure it is an excellent mean to use it (Surely best than using it as firing unit only).
I have yet to exercice my judgement about when precisely assault and improve his efficacity with a timely Cavalry support. If a day this may be well done, it must be terrific :-) .

My opinion is, if a breakthrough is successful all the opponent front will tear and like, a snowball going down a mountain, the units will rout one after the other.

Allways the same story: on paper I may hope to play not so badly :D .

Regards, gp.

Dear mates. The doctor comes to leave. He is formal, I must cease all activities too stressful.

I am therefore in the sad duty to abandon my parts of Wiki. The CB battles are too exhausting for my nervous system faltering.

If ever a day, a year, a decade LG will play in PBEM, I hope you meet again on a battlefield.
I will continue to read the news assiduously and replay your CB-games with greatest pleasure.

Best regards, gp.

Would anyone care to take over GP's position in this campaign ?.
