Hey M, i missed this first time round :x
Would be delighted to pit my wits against you mate, although as i need to spend a fair amount of time on my moves and battle tactics, not sure i would be able to play two games at once
What times GMT are you expecting to be available M, for battles :?: :?:

Timezone wise I am quite probably in the worst place in the world...GMT+8

So that makes my available gaming time around 1200hrs GMT through till 1400hrs GMT during the week - not a lot of chance for a game there.

Extended possibilities on Friday and Saturday evenings though - probably some chance then of resolving 1-2 battles a week. So, games with me are usually slow and there is an excellent chance that stand-in generals will be required, which is something I think is not a bad thing - though lets face it, we generals like to play our own games whenever its possible to do so :)

If a slower paced game sounds like something you can do without getting too bored then I'm your man.

Regards, M.

The odd Saturday and probably most Fridays,
Are you talking Fri and sat evenings GMT i could play up to say 2300GMT,
That i believe makes it 7AM for you ?? are you an early riser mate

You know this would probably suit me just fine, though it might prove too slow to keep your interest. Still, if we could throw in the odd Saturday as below it could work.

Aha, yes, let me think. Up till probably 2300 Friday for me is going to be 1500GMT Friday. Saturday might be more reasonable then, say something like 1000GMT through 1600GMT Saturdays? I wouldn't be online all that time of course but could reasonably expect to keep a game appointment in that sort of time frame.

Ug. The smell of cannon smoke first thing in the morning...not sure I can stomach that.

You are spot on M, you most definitely are in the worst timezone there is,
Things seem to be getting a little bit confused :? :?
Every other Monday 1200-1400GMT which is 2200-2400 for you is OK for us both i believe :)
Then the confusion perhaps if i say when i could be available and see if you can match anything up,
Midweek the latest i could start a game would be 23.30GMT for you 7.30am, sadly i work Saturdays and party Saturnights.
That leaves us with Sunday, more promise here i could fit in a game at sometime between 10.00- 1400GMT for you 1800-2400,
Something to go on there M, I hope :)

Sounds like we could make something workable from this.

Still need a couple of weeks to disentangle myself from some RL bother then we can talk serious turkey :)

Regards, M.

Are either of you able to make a decision yet on the factions you will play ?.

If so, I can start to get things ready...I'm looking forward to keeping track of this game for you both - and the replays of course.

It's nearly as good as playing !.

Haven't given it much though as yet Gun.
As with what we attempted to do with our game (although I'm not sure it has worked out that way ) for me two factions that give as equal a playing field as possible is what i hope for.
I'm sure M, can help us out here.

Its my view that all the factions are as near to being levelled as you can hope to get given our combined limited knowledge of the game mechanics. Given this view, its my opinion that its more important to choose a faction that suits your playing style then it is to try to nut out which of them is the 'super' faction or which two might be closest in performance to each other.

The two current campaigns are in their final weeks I think - one side or the other will win in the next several battles in both cases (I'm judging this only by looking at overall victory points). Given this, its tempting for me to try and squeeze in a new version of CB after the end of the current campaigns but before the start of the next round.

Despite my vigorous rebuttals I am quite convinced now that I have overcompensated on howitzers ineffectiveness in the standard game - something needs to be tweaked in CB and I am busily tweaking away in the background as you guys play out the current campaigns. You will all see me ramp up my enquiries in this thread:

http://nwg.freeforums.org/1st-thoughts-for-v3-1-of-corps-battles-cb-t422-30.html

over the next week or so. I'll try and get a few games with all of you during a short 'beta' test, then, if we're happy, will release CB v3.1

Have a look here:

http://corps-battles.wikispaces.com/Additional+changes

to get an idea of where the current thinking is going. Aside from probable modification of the artillery line-ups other changes are likely to be very minor indeed (French OG "Frighten Foot" is probably going to go though).

Now, back to the question at hand. I'm a long time Russians miniatures player and am happy to go Russian unless you want them yourself DougieJ. Before you respond, I want to be sure everyone knows I'm being open about this from the Corps-Battles "upcoming changes" site:

"Enlarge the Russian Unicorn battery to match the new Position battery size as described above"

Unicorns are howitzer / cannon with no canister ability.

If you wish to take Russians yourself I will happily play as Spain or Prussia.

Best regards,
Moopere

Ha Ha, It seems once again DougieJ has missed the point
Yes I'm still thinking of CB in terms of the NTW lobby games, ignoring all the fine work you have done M, in bringing the factions abilities closer together.
Russians for you mate, go ahead  i will decide on my choice soon.
Look forward to seeing what you come up with regarding changes for the next version.

Yep, saw that and commented over on that thread. Looks very good to me. Dougie, you happy to go with this new levelling system in our upcoming game?

Regards, M.

Thanks Dougie, some things we have tried in the wiki have not worked, but I feel VERY confident that this will both work, and be fair to all players, no matter what their skill level is......we must always remember that there are new players getting into this all the time, and if they take a look, they may welll think

"heck, no point in me trying that, I'll lose every battle".....

this will help that to not happen, and make us all hard work for our battle victories.
