Are either of you able to make a decision yet on the factions you will play ?.
If so, I can start to get things ready...I'm looking forward to keeping track of this game for you both - and the replays of course.
It's nearly as good as playing !.
Haven't given it much though as yet Gun.
As with what we attempted to do with our game (although I'm not sure it has worked out that way ) for me two factions that give as equal a playing field as possible is what i hope for.
I'm sure M, can help us out here.

Its my view that all the factions are as near to being levelled as you can hope to get given our combined limited knowledge of the game mechanics. Given this view, its my opinion that its more important to choose a faction that suits your playing style then it is to try to nut out which of them is the 'super' faction or which two might be closest in performance to each other.
The two current campaigns are in their final weeks I think - one side or the other will win in the next several battles in both cases (I'm judging this only by looking at overall victory points). Given this, its tempting for me to try and squeeze in a new version of CB after the end of the current campaigns but before the start of the next round.
Despite my vigorous rebuttals I am quite convinced now that I have overcompensated on howitzers ineffectiveness in the standard game - something needs to be tweaked in CB and I am busily tweaking away in the background as you guys play out the current campaigns. You will all see me ramp up my enquiries in this thread:
http://nwg.freeforums.org/1st-thoughts-for-v3-1-of-corps-battles-cb-t422-30.html
over the next week or so. I'll try and get a few games with all of you during a short 'beta' test, then, if we're happy, will release CB v3.1
Have a look here:
http://corps-battles.wikispaces.com/Additional+changes
to get an idea of where the current thinking is going. Aside from probable modification of the artillery line-ups other changes are likely to be very minor indeed (French OG "Frighten Foot" is probably going to go though).
Now, back to the question at hand. I'm a long time Russians miniatures player and am happy to go Russian unless you want them yourself DougieJ. Before you respond, I want to be sure everyone knows I'm being open about this from the Corps-Battles "upcoming changes" site:
"Enlarge the Russian Unicorn battery to match the new Position battery size as described above"
Unicorns are howitzer / cannon with no canister ability.
If you wish to take Russians yourself I will happily play as Spain or Prussia.
Best regards,
Moopere
