Well guys i think i have just about given up completely on joining any games or hosting in the general ETW lobby.
Last nights games were by no means the first disappointing ones i have been involved in but they sum up whats going on pretty well.
Myself and Ballu played two games against strangers, either side of a very good game v the KO guys.
The first game, i faced a player with an army comprising entirely of Austrian Grenzers (lights) not even a general.
The second game with a different player was an army entirely made up of Guards again not even a gen.

Clearly these guys have absolutely no interest or knowledge of military history at all, ETW is just a game and nothing else.
My advice is steer well clear of the lobby and play your games with the NTW community only.

Yeah, I'm with you on this score Dougie. Its just not worth the effort, I'm sure there -are- decent players with an interest on the general lobby but I've not met any of them yet.

I had a cracking game against KO|Druid last night, exactly what the normal lobby games are not His British wiped the floor with my Russians but it lasted a good 40-50 minutes and was really quite reminiscent of a good NTW2 game only using the nice new ETW engine.

oh, and we met on the NWG Steam lobby, so there you go, it can work!

Druid himself has encouraged his KO friends to use the Nwg chat lobby if they are looking for a game, and last night there was a few more guys in there so i think progress is being made.
So we can look forward to some more games with different players
