Latest news on a possible release date for LG.

Quote:
June.. not yet

Today, some small issues about fighting on bridge/ford... some adjustments about Cavalry vs Infantry.. no more!

Working hard, you can believe I want to finish as soon as possible but without a lot of issues

I know you are waiting this game! I can't work 24/24...

I said 6 months 4 months ago! Lost around 2 months on my roadmap...

Yes, it sure does!

I've mentioned before that I think it would be a grave sales mistake to not get LG out before ETW. I'm not sure how much it matters, from a sales and profits point of view, that the games will be very different. I think that if ETW turns out to be even reasonably good then the familiarity, size of instant community etc will suck up interested gamers for quite some time, leaving other games with a small audience.

Its sort of like the World of Warcraft thing, no-one and I mean absolutely no-one releases their game within a week of a major world of warcraft patch - because these patches prove so popular with the gaming public that no-one buys or plays anything else.

The current reality, and its been this way for a while, is to release your game when its 'good enough' and free of major show stopper bugs then patch for at least a year afterwards. Its not a bad plan and can help to sustain sales over a long term.

Cheers,
M.

This game still hasn't been released? hahahaha. I bet his publishers are thrilled. JMM is a nice bloke but doesn't like help from what I remember.

I too think Les Grognards will struggle if ETW is released first and if ETW can establish itself then I think the game is doomed, I hope not though, he has put in a lot of work over the years but this game should have been released a long time ago.

If I were JMM I would not release it this year, perhaps christmas or Jan 2010 as it looks he will not beat the ETW deadline.

Perhaps Les Grognards will attract a slightly different sort of Napoleonic player, I really hope so but if ETW can be modded as well I fear for him.

Good Luck though JMM you will need it.

finally pleased to provide some encouraging news HISTWAR development, the Napoleonic strategy game developed by Jean-Michel Mathé. Here's a few new images of scenes of battles, screenshots with a screenshot as offering a panoramic overview of the situation. Under a rainy cloud, we discovered French infantry units that are being put in a position to fight around a few houses. The lines are impeccable, the battalions marched calmly under fire from a battery of enemy artillery positioned in the hills nearby. A screen of skirmishers progressing ahead of most of the troupe. Suddenly, a powerful cavalry charge Austro-Russian goes off and build on the French artillery during implementation, it is a terrible melee! The French infantry, taken against the foot, settled in the town square ...

For the lover of history, it's always a pleasure to see the realism that emerged from the battles that allows to simulate Histwar: a large depth of field, thousands of combatants organized into battalions, training and tactics that seem credible. Obviously, there must always be wary of such images, even directly from the game apparently, and we can not judge the software that result in hand, but the volume of units and their sequencing are undoubtedly more interesting than the battles are all modest series Total War.

But the most important thing is that after years of waiting, finally Histwar seems near its end. The first playable version should be provided to the press in early April , with of course a full report on Cyber forecast. This version should also integrate the functions of network play, to test the multiplayer, great! As for the exit, Histwar is scheduled for this summer , In Print Battlefront ... Take therefore subject to change course, but since the time it is expected, it is gone!
Anyway, for those who doubt, the development of Histwar continues and is going well. A beta test is being deepened and Jean-Michel Mathé is still present on the bridge, Souque firm to move his boat. Enthusiasts of the First Empire, raise the head, the promised land is close!

As long as LG works as it should do - Yes, if not, Empire with a top class mod will do for me.

I still have a completely open mind on LG.
ETW has reminded me, it doesn't matter how many discussions there are or how many previews or reviews you see, you just don't know how the game is going to play out until you actually get you hands on it.

I hope you LG fanatics are not going to be disappointed

Yes, I well understnad that comment, I have taken my "expectations" down recently.......I still expect it to be a great game, but I'm also expecting some serious problems with it, AI wise, and what it does with your troops....you have to think this is what has been causing all the never ending delays, so I'm not as confident as I was 6 months ago.

Good news, you should get in touch with Grospaul (GP) as he's interested in pbem more than "live" lobby play.
