New TROM available now! V1.64 and has some very significant MP changes which I think will help us all enormously. TWC post and official downloads are here (don't download right away, read the rest of the post first):

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=259213 (Most NWG players won't want this official version though, see NBC version below)

Thanks to Johan217 of the TROM team we have for the first time a proper installer for this mod which is able to be downloaded from the link above and includes a desktop icon to launch the game and the mod.

NWG MP players have a specific set of likes and dislikes though, so, to promote trouble free install and hopefully trouble free gaming between NWG members we've re-packaged the installer to include our favourite mod items along with the launching icon which will keep us all compatible with each other.

Multiplayer TROM Installer (NBC Re-Package)
Download the NBC Re-package of TROM 1.64 here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3AIAHIQS (Warning, 460MB!)

or here:

http://www.slingfile.com/file/qOCbOOojw2

The re-package effort contains the following mod files + other support files:

Code:
trom_ornamentum.pack         14/10/2009 10:36pm
trom_flags.pack               7/07/2009 10:22pm
trom_media.pack              27/04/2009 12:32pm
trom_battlesounds.pack       15/07/2009 2:45pm
trom_blood_smoke_light.pack  14/10/2009 5:18am
LMCmapmod_29092009.pack      29/09/2009 9:11pm
trom_core_part_1.pack        29/10/2009 3:26pm
trom_core_part_2.pack        28/10/2009 11:22pm
trom_text.pack               28/10/2009 10:52pm

ModManager Users
Note that if you choose not to use the installer package you can still participate in MP games but you must ensure you have the files above in your data directory (normally c:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\empire total war\data) - check that the dates and times are correct on each file.

You must use Mod Manager to launch your mods in an MP compatible way and you need to order and run ETW as follows:

Image

Getting a clean Vanilla ETW
To successfully play MP games against other NWG players you must start with a clean vanilla ETW install - remove all existing mods + other extra stuff you may have installed. My copy of vanilla looks like this:

Image

You must also remove all files in

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

except for

preferences.empire_script.txt

Then open Steam and do the following:

1) Click on the My Games tab
2) Right click on Empire Total War
3) Choose Properties
4) Click on the Local Files tab
5) Click on Verify Integrity of game cache

After you have cleaned and verified your Vanilla ETW install please start ETW and make sure the game successfully launches and that you are actually able to play a game.

If all goes well you may then install TROM-NBC as described at the top of this post.

Good luck, have fun!

Moopere

Great work, I do think this should be called the nwg, NOT NBC re-package.

Yeah maybe, you are probably right - though most of the work in testing and liaising with the TROM team was done by NBC people. Its unofficial too, at least at the moment. The official version is the one at TWC without all the extra fruit. I'm actually hoping that once the MP package matures it will become official and be hosted at TWC.

Regards, M.

Very good, no matter what it's called, it's a great step forward.

For info I took out all my old Trom files and started up steam, then I did the verify game files and started up vanilla.....next I exited out of vanilla and closed steam down, then I used the auto installer (excellent) and there we are, all the right files in the right place and working first time with no problems.

Fantastic, this should help get a few more people using TROM for MP games.

I'm glad its working Gun. Hopefully everyone will find it a lot easier to use the mod now. Additionally, for those with an interest, the TROM campaign is installed also, big bonus! Its also easy to switch back to vanilla online games by simply clicking on the standard ETW icon that your initial ETW install put on your desktop - very flexible.

Thanks Johan!

I notice that launching the game in steam gives you vanilla, so it is so very easy to use whichever version you want, but if you want to play TROM remember to launch it via the desktop icon and not in steam, as I did tonight !.

Thats a good point Gun, especially relevant if you have a few other steam games and tend to switch between them.

You are able to add a 'non steam' game to the games list however and could no doubt achieve this by pointing at the TROM icon. I'll have a think about whether this can be included in the main installer - how fab would that be?

Moo.

Just to confirm, the installer works perfectly with Vista 64 :D
No need to redirect the install path.
Excellent work Moopere, really great :D

Hey fellow TROM players, so far so good all units and factions look very interesting, but I have 1 main question.

All grenadier types i choose from any faction inbattle have no grenades to throw? why? I installed the full version NBC , and i hope its not my issues or overall an issue or just how the grenadiers are supposed to be.

As far as I know the grenades were taken out of the game by Johan.

Most if not all of the early Trom MP players are Napoleonic period fans, so viewed there Trom battles this way, so we were very happy not have grenade throwing Grens as this habit that was often more dangerous to the server than receiver :D died out i believe sometime in the mid 18th century.
However the removal of this from the Trom mod had already been done, when we started playing, so not our fault :D

Cheers DJ
