I was thinking about changing the unit sizes to regiments each, so about 2400 men per unit, I know that sounds stupid, but I want to see how many men I can get on my screen on a massive scale, ATM it's about 16,000 I can have, but NTW2 will not let me go beyond that, so I need to know where to find the file (I believe it would be text) on my system. Can someone help? I'm thinking of trying it out on Corps Battles, maybe, if it's sucsessful I turn it into a mod!

Hi GB,

There is a hard limit of 243 men per unit when using the RTW engine. More than that will CTD you :) I made CB as big as it could be made at the time. ETW has no such limits apparently with tweakers getting at least 10,000 men into a single unit. OF course the game itself does not really cater to such massive armies because the maps don't scale with the unit size.

Best of luck,
Moopere

Thanks mate, maybe I'll try it on ETW. Or even wait for NTW, and see how it goes modding wise.

Ok, I tried it on ETW, making every units 2160 men (A regiment). It was massive, like I had never seen, 40,000 men in my army! But it lagged, but not badly! So I cut it down to 960 (Which was a batallion during the 18th Centurary) and that was still big, and a tiny amount of lag, I had an army of 18,000. But with all this, their was one problem, I couldn't strech the lines out, they where all thick blocks, I think it has a maximum of how far across they can have on their front line. Do you know how to change this, which file i do it in? If not, doesn't matter. It was a good experiment!

But through this, I think in the near future, it would be possible to make a game like Histwar: Les Grognards but with a scale of 1:1 and with the graphics of NTW2. It would work on most computers in 10 years times really well, thats going by, I had 40,000 men on my screen with little lag and only when I zoomed in on ETW.

:o

The problem is that the maps are way way too small to field 40,000 models on them. At best the ETW maps made by the Lordz are about 2500 yards square and they are generally bigger than all the CA supplied ones. If you think about the real field size of a battle this size its should have a front of a few miles at least and be 2 to 3x as deep (again, at least). A 2 mile battle front would be about 3500 yards!! Big contacts should be 5 miles or more across the 'front' (8000-10000 yards)

Best regards,
Moo

Yes, I noticed that, my army was massive, and because of that the system put them in column and I couldn't stretch them out! Oh well, good experiment!
