Quote from Moon.

Quote:
Still, units are SUPPOSED to break with relatively few casualties in a short space of time

As most people will know I'm 100% against this type of game, it does nothing more than encourage a mass charge with Grenadier/Elite troops that break the defenders on contact (the ntw2 blob will be back in no time) and then that chain routs everything else because the moral is set to make that happen - usless for me.

In three games last night, units with 90+ men were routing just because nearby units routed, it's not a game for me.

If Moon is set on going in the direction he has said so far, I would agree your right, I hope he may change his mind and go back to version 2e, patch 6.

Moons comments on TW sound a bit better now, there was some serious mis-understanding about the numbers before routing I suspect.......10-20 in a short space of time, is totaly different to : a total of 10-20 will see a unit rout.

Moons latest idea's and comments seem to be more on track (and an improvement on) to what we knew in the 2e version, so I will be sticking with this for now to see how it ends up.

Patch 1 for v2f is now released, it is a TINY little file, that needs to go with the main (large) file into the "data" folder.

Yes very tiny: 36.91KB. But what do you mean with "the main(large) file"? Is that another GrogMod file? Which file if yes?

You need the full version 2f file, which is a very BIG file, that is version 2f, this tiny file is a "patch".......you need BOTH files in data.

I am uploading the very large file now, and it will be posted on the NBC HQ Downloads forum very soon.

EDIT : Sorry, this only worked as a "premium user"damn, it was too big !.

I'll also post it here as well, but both files are on the TW topic, this is still a "beta" test at the moment, it is NOT finished, Moon is still working on some interesting things, I now think this could be very good ideed - when it's finished !.

Version 2f is a very large file and Patch 1 for version 2f is a tiny file that needs to go in "data" with the main (large) file.

Both files are at the TW site on the above thread.

Had a couple of very nice SP games tonight with the NBG. What a pleasure to not have to worry about the General unit any more + the opportunity to have an extra unit ... this is definitely the right way to do business.

Speed of units is nice, range and casualties seem good, though I'm not a big personal fan of long range rifles that are so cheap, but overall nice work. Moon is most definitely on the right track in my opinion.

Cheers, M.

Sad news to report : I have to give up with the mod now, these MP problems have got beyond a joke. I'm taking mine out, every night someone (or more than one) has problems getting it to work MP......so many different things going wrong we can no longer get enough people to make it usable - everyone is so fed up with it they prefer to play SP, how sad is that ?.

Tonight someone who had it working last night, could not make it work tonight, everything was checked, and still no go, yet vanilla worked correctly ?????.....others get CTD trying to load it, two of us got de-syn messaages about 10 minutes into games, three times.....it's all become impossible to get games going.

Maybe best to leave it now till it's all done and finished, then we can try again, but for now, I'm going to have to leave it as I'm spending more time trying to help others get it working than I do using it myself. I must have spent 10 hours this week trying to help others get the NB mod working.

I have suggested to NBC that we give vanilla a go for a while, we might need a ton of "rules" to stop the more stupid stuff but at least it's playable.

After the praise which I have read about MoonCabbage, I placed great hopes that he will resolve to these problems.

J, on the one hand you were totaly right, the "mod" sceen is a mess, but on the other hand there is no reason it should be......I have used every version of the mod, and all the patchs, and the Lordz maps, with NO problems.....but in MP many others are finding all kinds of problems - as you kind of said a long time ago.

NBC is still discussing what to do, but I may well be trying vanilla MP, but I would not, under any circumstances, be playing it WITHOUT the Lordz maps, I can not play those usless vanilla maps even one single time more.

Well the maps are something that you just live with. Vanilla MP is seriously not that monster in your closet coming to get you. It's quite fun. The reason why the NTW community doesn't play is because it's such a stark contrast to what they are used to.

The problems in Vanilla really aren't that difficult to deal with if you're a veteran Napoleonic player. Gaurd spam, etc, are small annoyances, yes, but it's something I can certainly deal with. (And by deal with I mean making the enemy die for their country)

PS if you seriously want to avoid noobish spam, I'd suggest meeting SVK on the field sometimes at about 20:00 GMT on weekends or weeknights. We'll show you how vanilla SHOULD be played.
