Hi, I was thinking of making a simple forum where old NTW folks could stop by and chat about ETW, but then I stumbled on this forum, following the steam usergroup link. So I'll make some comments with my usual style, no offense.

1) Forum/site name(s) are too long and messy. I would buy a simple name like www.etw-ntw.net, but since you have already a forum you could buy your own.
2) Too many too useless forums. You just need 1 or 2 forums so there's life and activity. There are around 20 (!) forums for 85 members...
3) If we're discussing something, it's ETW and it's problems so this should be a priority.
4) Ads suck, I don't know why you like phpBB and this free hosting :P , look this forum for example: http://www.poulia.net/forums/index.php?
Invision board is leet, no ads and with a skin rocks.
5) I'm at the community's disposal to setup a big forum for everybody (if this doesn't do that is), with permissions etc, since I have servers and storage capacity online, can buy domains and give the keys to people who are dedicated to the cause.

ETW sucks, need patch NOW, need mods later.

Hmmm I just figured out there's a new LORDZ site, that looks simpler and nicer, I try to be around more next time.

Have fun.

Cheers.

Comments always welcome, thanks for your input. I'll address some of your concerns myself, others may have different comments.

I must say I'm a bit surprised that you had not heard of the NWG before as its been in existence for quite a long time now and for a time was the only reliable source of files and forums at a community wide level for NTW2 when the original Lordz site was experiencing some problems. Nevertheless, we don't really advertise in a big way and this is doubtless part of the reason.

Perhaps I misunderstand this, but are you saying that http://nwg.freeforums.org is too long a name? Perhaps you are referring to links to specific forums posts which can get a bit long I agree (like this one http://nwg.freeforums.org/hello-and-some-comments-t617.html)

Compared to some of the other free services out there with very long and cryptic sounding names I am a bit surprised at this comment.

I view this as a fair comment actually. The governing NWG Panel has touched on this in the past and we've just not yet collectively found the time to clean things up a bit. Existing threads should, where possible, be migrated to fewer more relevant forums so its not a completely trivial job, but certainly one that needs doing.

Not sure if I understand your meaning here.

We chose freeforums originally for its reliability. All free (and non free) services have a little down time occasionally, but freeforums has been consistent and reliable for a number of years.

Ads do suck, I agree, but for those who worry about these things, and I am one, ad-blockers work really well. I have not seen any ads on any forums sites for well over 2 years. Not only that, but the space I usually lose on my screen because of ads is reclaimed to a large extent by using a blocker.

Thanks for the offer. Its not my decision alone as I am but one of three of the governing panel, but my personal take is that we've had pretty decent service from the free assets utilised so far and their 'ownership rights' by and large are flexible enough to allow migration to different people as the governing panel changes and people naturally enter and leave the community.

Can't help but agree.

:) Its a big improvement and nice to see. We're not competition to the Lordz site though, more an augmentation. Hope to see you hovering around these parts of the web in the future.

Cheers, Moopere

This has been here for about 18 months !.

Not to much to be gained by saying Clan forums are useless, that's not going to help much.

You have perhaps missed all the discussions over the last year or so about ONE organisation for all the old ntw2 clans - it got no where........ because they all like their own forums better than having one big one - if you can convice them otherwise, you will have done a grand job.

Sure do, and no doubt we will, but these things don't happen over night.

Welcome to nwg, hope to see you around more in the future.
