Corps Battles v3.2 - The Regimental Mod of NTW2 is released and available for all to enjoy. Find it here:

http://corps-battles.wikispaces.com

Changes (in brief):

- Costings redone to give greater weight to musket/rifle firing abilities. This issue had been bubbling around for a while but a decent fix missed the CB3.1 release.
- All countries militia gets 60 ammunition, same as all other infantry.

Otherwise CB3.2 is basically a point release on CB3.1, most interesting changes listed below:

- Resize the divisional cannon artillery batteries (4 cannon models per battery up from 3 in CB v3.0)
- Resize the howitzer batteries (3 guns per battery, down from 5)
- The previous Position cannon batteries made up from each factions largest calibre cannon is enlarged. These batteries are 6 model guns in size and made up of 8, 9 or 12lb guns depending on the faction.
- Reduce the ammunition available to 4 and 6 pound cannon and British rockets to help reduce their overall cost.
- Enlarge the Russian Unicorn battery to match the new Position battery size as described above.
- Addition of a brigade size heavy cavalry unit for all factions
- A new Battalion size unit of each factions most elite Infantry.
- Remove the Frighten_Foot ability of French old guard infantry.

Instructions for install and the install files are all available on the site.

Best regards,
Moopere

** NOTE: Beta testers of CB3.2 will not have to reinstall, nothing has required changing since the beta was released.

Costs have changed in many areas and I would expect greater parity between good shooting nations and poor ones now. There has also been a knock on effect to a lot of artillery and cavalry units which was not really intended but is all part of the pricing mix and the way things interact with each other.

Hope the battles played so far have been good ones. Any early feedback on the perception of cost versus shooting ability?

M.

After a couple of games I'd say the re-costing is a great improvement, Spain v Holland now makes for a better game, as Spain can build a better 20 unit force than before.....the downside is that howitzers will not be seen on the battlefield, if what myself and Dougie have seen so far.

I'm not comfortable with seriously considering change on this front yet. There are two things going on at the same time which may settle down over the course of the next 10-20 games or so

1) We got used to howitzers being extremely cheap ... <1,000 florins....but they were too cheap at that price (due to a previously mentioned maths error in the spreadsheet used to calculate costs).

2) CB31 increased the accuracy of cannon back to that of std NTW2. The cannon you are using now -do- seem more attractive because they are more accurate.

Combined then I'm not that surprised or disappointed to see cannon make a reappearance on the field. If no-one has used Howies more then once over the course of this current campaign round we should indeed have a serious think about why that might be and what we can do to correct the problem without upsetting the apple cart too much and throwing cannon out of favour again.

M.
