Hello everyone.

I am going to start work on a Maps v 2 pack that will contain a NEW version of some exsisting maps.

The original map will NOT be changed in any way.

The new map will have the same name with "v2" added at the end.

These will be mainly "water" maps, with either the water taken out, OR, the river crossings made larger......

The new maps will NOT be changed very much, details we remain the same, the ONLY changes will be to make them more playable.

When it's done the pack can be downloaded and the maps moved into the maps folder. There will then be TWO versions of the same map and EITHER can be used. Many of these are never used now because of various problems - some even crash on loading, as the water is in the wrong place. These should all be more playable after some very small changes.

I will keep you informed of which maps will be included.

the first one is :

CamdenVillage, the change here is to take out the water, so making the whole map playable, instead of only about two thirds of it. The attacker will now be able to attack the left side of the map with a possible outflanking move.

Excellent! I've long hated Camden Village because of its problems even though overall it should be a really interesting map.

you are going to use new co-ordinate for the v2 maps I assume?

Regards,
Moopere

Yes, I have to or all you get is the same map as before.

The c/o will be changed on ALL v2 maps to ensure the original map is NOT changed, this way anyone who does not agree with the changes still has the original map with NO changes.

This is taking a lot less time than I expected......progess is going very well. The "new" v2 maps are going to be a lot more playable.

I must make it clear that NO map changes are being made other than "water" and some "forest" areas being changed.

A full list of the maps and the changes made will be posted here soon.

The download link is here :

http://rapidshare.com/files/141810965/Maps_v2.rar.html

It is about 12MB in size and will not take long to download.

Download the file and MOVE the 13 individual map folders into -

Rome Total War/Napoleonic/Data/World/Maps/Custom.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITH THE MAPS THAT ARE IN THAT FOLDER NOW.

These maps are a SECOND version of the maps you already have.

If you use the CB version of ntw2 remember to also copy these v2 maps into your CB map folder so that they may be used in CB games, where these changes will be of most use, because of the larger size artillery units.

Maps v2 - changes made.

Please note :
1. The “old” pictures have been used - NOT new ones.
2. There are only very small changes made to make them more playable.
3. The object was to change as little as possible.
4. The basic maps have been left UNchanged.

CamdenVillage.
The River on the attackers left has been TAKEN OUT
A small change to the woods and hills on the defenders right side, near to where the river used to be.

Dennewitz.
Added in ONE new river crossing point and WIDEN three other crossing points.

SchonGrabern.
Some water has been TAKEN OUT, making the crossing places WIDER and some EXTRA places to cross the little stream have been added in..

1812 Borodino
ALL the river crossing places have been made WIDER, and one NEW crossing point has been added.

The Great Crossing
ALL the river crossings have been made WIDER.

Pont de Lodi
ALL the river crossing have been made WIDER and one NEW crossing point has been added.

HagelburgThe forest on the attackers right has had a ROAD put though it and the forest on the attackers left has been REDUCED in size.

QuatreBras
The thick woods have been REDUCED IN SIZE on the right hand side of the attackers zone.

Warve
The water has been TAKEN out of the stream.

Ligny
ALL the water has been TAKEN out from the small rivers.

EasternValleys
Some areas of the FOREST have been REMOVED.

Grunvaal
The river has been REMOVED and replaced with a large muddy creek.

Along the coast
Large areas of forest have been REMOVED from all over the map.

A lot of the old download links are now broken for no easily explainable reason. We try to keep the links up to date over the on the NWG wiki site -

They have been a problem for a while. First they descended into the 'little cats' thing which just drove me nuts, now this.

Its getting hard to find a free hosting service that will support >100MB downloads.

NWG.wiki has used boxstr.com for a long time but their daily bandwidth is easily max'd out, otherwise they are good and easy to use.

I'm uploading all the (now) hard to find big stuff to filefactory.com which is a little bit of a pain for people to download from (enter a key, then press a button) but is otherwise ok I hope as they allow 300MB files.

Stay tuned folks. Hopefully we'll have at least two good working links by this evening.

Regards, M.

Good find! I'll start uploading to it also which will give us 3 working links for all files. That should be enough hopefully.

Thanks for spotting that one.

Cheers, M.
