I must admit I'm a bit surprised to have been caught unaware over the last week or so as a very large number of folk are suddenly downloading NTW2 - I got a hint from some people posting here and elsewhere that the NWG provided download links for the game and maps were maxing out their bandwidth.

I'm surprised because for a long time it appeared to me that the NTW2 community was fairly stagnant in number or perhaps was even shrinking a little bit - but here, out of nowhere, a big resurgence in interest and downloads!

Is this translating into games on the lobby or is it all single player?

Regards, M.

Yes M, i have noticed a few new names in the lobby of late, although its hardly overflowing.
I wonder if folks are using NTW as a warm up for ETW. ??

That could well be it Dougie...always the odd new player here and there, but I don't see a mass of new ones recently in the lobby, so most may be SP players.

I wonder, perhaps you are right Dougie. Folks doing web research on ETW getting excited and impatient and somehow finding NTW2.

To give you some idea: On the first day I put up the extra 2 links for NTW2 and the Official map pack there were something like 16 downloads combined -on that day- plus a couple of extra's from my old standard download link.

CB32 alone (not including previous versions) has had over 20 downloads! Thats a -lot- in my books for a mod of a mod. Plus, most of the guys downloading CB32 seem to care enough to get the Gunner 'extra' maps packaged for CB32 as well.

At the back end it all looks like a large resurgence in interest - pity its not working through to the lobby.

Regards,
Moopere

Perhaps it will in time, but then again, we only have 3 months and Empire will be here anyway.....but one or two new (CB) players makes a big difference to such a small group, every ONE new player is very welcome and can only help to perhaps bring in another one, etc, etc.

Well SVK has had a huge surge in new recruits, so that might contribute to it a bit. :D

But seriously its mostly SP. I'd even bet money on it.
