Read I correctly? That means DarthMod can't play MP whith Lordz maps, although it runs perfectly in SP with those maps?

no GP... i cant say something like that yet but yesterday with Frog, the reason we taking the map pack out of data folder was this; when i hosted the game he told me my games seemed red to him so it maybe again the loc file, maybe one of us having it, one not. I ll check Darth more seriously when i have more time (maybe tonight late hours) if i find an opponent for MP game as i suppose people still love SP ;) .

This afternoon, if you wish we could just try to launch a game as a test and if it works we cancel, because you are lacking of time.
If you agree, send me a PM for a rendez-vous.

DarthMod Empire 2,2 released. Anyone tried for Mp so far?
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/download ... le&id=2334

*Moopere, do we now need the script for MP games as v2,2 says "-No reason to use a "pack" type for multiplayer, so it is removed." ?

I'll look into it Ank. There have been rumours for a while that mod packs now work in MP, I've not been able to prove this and the empirical evidence on the lobby seems to indicate otherwise, but I'll put in a serious investigation this evening to see whats what.

Cheers, M.

i ll be waiting for that...

and the below post means we cant simply move out mapmod_loc.pack and keep LMCmapmod.rar in data folder with DarthMod Empire 2,2 and play MP?...so impossible to play lordz maps with darth mod (or other mods) till the mod creator decides to use them ?

Lord Badger wrote:
Both files are needed to play the maps.

The older version, which had only one pack file was released before ETW's 1.3 patch & so a few of this patches edits to the loc file weren't included.

We've decided it's definately best to have the loc file seperate from the map pack itself for the following reasons:

- future releases can be seperated from older ones, so one doesn't have to dl all the older maps in 1 file.
- other mod compatibility is easier to achieve, as the loc file for the mod can be amended with the mappack's loc entries. In this case however, the mappacks loc pack needs to be moved out of the data folder, as it might clash with the mod's loc.

So basically, yes both files are needed, and to get it to play with other mods, you need to manually move the mapmod_loc.pack out of the data folder. It can't be done through the mod manager, as the mapmod_loc.pack has to be a movie pack. It caused a ctd on my pc when i make it a mod pack.
Also make sure the mod is map pack compatible, ie the loc lines need to be included in the mods loc file. This of course needs to be verified by the mod creator.

cheers

Ahh, might take me a day or two. Forgot I reinstalled XP on my test machine so now I have to set up Steam and ETW and block authentication so that I can play against myself on the LAN to see if Mods work. I need to do this anyway for mod testing but it will take me a couple of evening to get it up and running again.

I can't pretend to understand all of that, but it certainly does smell a bit like we'd need to lobby Dartis to use the Lordz maps and include them (or the loc at least) in his mod. Perhaps not unrealistic, the Lordz maps are superior to the vanilla ones in every way that matters.

i see. I pm Dartis about Lordz maps. If he decides to use these maps for MP, great! maybe not (as most mod players love SP), then i dont plan to play any mod/etw mp game which is not compatible with the Lordz maps in this or that way.
I ll report as soon as i can get a reply.

Permit I confirm what says DougieJ NBGmod can't start without the _loc file.

Didn't test with Darthmod yet.
