Today we're releasing a new set of screenshots from the recent beta test version of Histwar: Les Grognards. JMM and his team have spent most of the past months working on and refining multiplayer, and we can't show you much of that (although we do plan to release an after-action report in the near future from some of the 8-multiplayer testing action). But what we can show right now are a set of new screenshots with some of the new smoke and special effects! Enjoy!

Clearly no match for ETW in terms of good looks
But we have always known that.
Still some shots of the large army's and the artillery train looked very good.
I noticed ""36"" unit slots at the bottom of the screen on one shot.

The good side to that is large battles without having to have a super computer......that has to outweigh the "pretty" graphics that people only have to reduce to get the game played anyway !.

So far it just looks like Combat mission: Napoleon. And given that infantry wasn't the strongest part of the Cb games; I have doubts about this matching up to E:TW or even Cossacks 2 in terms of gameplay. On the other hand, a real time, tactical simulator for Napoleonic and revolutionary gameplay is direly needed (and I'm sure 8 player battles will be a blast even if the gameplay itself isn't too exciting).

Compared to Empire it might appear to be a bit "dull" but it's never meant to be anything like that anyway, it's a different class and scale, so hopefully it will be as good as some of us "older" guys think it is.

Lets hope we find out this year, after waiting so long.
